Welcome,
Next semester (beginning in March , 2007) we will be starting an Oracle Study Group. Tentatively, this group will meet on Friday at 2pm. ( March 16-July 29 Friday per week )
The certification we are going to be working on is the Oracle9i DBA Certified Associate. This certification requires two tests. The first test is the SQL test. The second test is called, "Database Fundamentals I." Most of our attention will focus on the second test, since I think it is easier for most people to prepare for the first test on their own. But I will also be helping those who might have limited background with SQL.
In addition to the Database Fundamentals test preparation, we will be working through some exercises regarding the RMAN utility in Oracle, which is Oracle's primary backup and recovery tool.
This study group is open to both graduates and undergraduates. There will be no specific homework, although I will certainly be giving you some ideas about what to study. The reason for this is that this study group will not be a regular class. You will not get a grade. The only function of this group is to help you to prepare for the Oracle certification exams.
If you are interested in being a part of this study group, please send an email to this address:

Let me know your name and student number before January 23, 2007, and also let me know if this time (2 pm Friday) works for you. (
Thanks,
